Everything You Need to Know

There is an increasing population of aging people in the United States. Old people urgently need assistance. Someone has to look after them when they are not capable any more of doing daily chores necessary in their daily existence. The adult day care is a valuable facility made specifically for older people who could not manage to live independently, or who are living alone and lonely.

There is a lot to know about adult day care like the program they offer and the nature of services they render. These facilities may be public or private centers, profit or non-profit organizations with the full intention of providing older adults the chance to receive physical, mental and social stimulation.

The services offered by these types of facilities do not limit on health care but also run a well-planned program to enhance the lives of the elderly depending on their abilities, skills, knowledge, physical strength, and interest.

The usual candidates to enter these places are old people who are looking for care, companionship and friendship, and those who would like to benefit from the assistance of the caregivers. They may have physical or cognitive problems but don't need 24-hour supervision. Those who are in the early stage of Alzheimer's disease require such service as well.

There are three existing types of facilities. A center that provides social and health services for old people with Alzheimer's or dementia, social adult day care that needs assessment by a doctor before the admission into the program, and adult day health care designed to serve physical, occupational and speech therapy.
